so... nobody's talking up the Art challenge...

i have one good capture that didn't go into any challenges last year, but i'm having a hard time deciding on the best way to process it to make it look like "art"

and based on the jury members, its going to be a wash to go one way over another...

oh well, back to staring at multiple versions of the same image 8-\

What is the difference between the best of 2011 and the art challenge? Aren't the entries from the best of challenge also art? I'm a bit confused.

Nevermind, I found the extra rules discussion thread.

I just found a shot I considered "artsy fartsy" vs a traditional landscape or portrait or whatever. Guess I'll see how it does!

I have one that i'll be putting up, i consider it art, but others may not. That's the beauty of art.
I just haven't had time to even think about doing anything with it due to having a sick baby, so i might just resize it tonight and upload exactly as i took it. (i believe that advanced editing is allowed, but i'll take any posted score or criticism based on the merit of the photo alone).

I've entered an image. I have very low expectations for the score. And, I'm expecting the jury to passover the image. So, nothing to lose!

I entered one that I almost put into a freestudy, but decided on something else. Now I'm glad I held onto it.

Entered my image. I'm expecting score ranges between a 4 and 7, hoping to get at least one 8+.
As this is my first challenge entry i'm not expecting much, I just hope I don't get horrible scores or reviews, but i'm here to learn and get better, so if that's what it takes, then I'll use it as reason to get better.

Still don't know what to do. Looking at the title, this challenge is about "Art". Looking at the description is should be an artistic photo. At the moment I feel like Scrooge: "Bah! Humbug!". But perhaps I feel better tomorrow :)

I originally entered one image... saw a PERFECT photo opportunity earlier today, but I was driving, so I made a mental note of the shot and will be returning to the area to shoot later!

I encourage you to do so, but maybe for an existing challenge or a future one, like Best of 2012 or Art 2012. Because the Art of 2011 requires an image captured between Jan. 1 2011 and Dec 31 2011.

You do realize you can't shoot for this, right? The image had to be taken during 2011.

Oops... mental lapse. I was thinking of the Free Study.

The fun of this challenge is that it is so subjective one does not have any idea what score you will get. Kind of like opening a box of chocolates!

Ooooo! I wish I had a box of chocolates right now. I may just send someone out to get some. ;D

I thought it was another Art Rolfmao challenge.

Could I trouble one or two folks to take a look at an editing technique I am considering for this challenge? I am not sure it is legal and want to avoid another DQ.

Had to pull my original entry. Noticed I took an illegal step (good thing I caught it). Darkened areas so much it removed some areas that may change the viewer's description of the photograph.

Back to the drawing board.
