Dumb question perhaps. I know current contest (palidromes) has file size limit of 300 KB. I seem to recall that I used to get an error message when I submitted too big a file and had to upload again after making adjustments. Yes? Just loaded my entry now (forgetting to "downsize" it) and it posted to the challenge just fine. I fear the same thing happened with my entry in last week's contest (Art Roflmao) . What happens if you submit too big a file? I won't be winning any ribbons for the contest that ends tonight, but if I did, would disqualification happen at that point --- or does DP software now automatically adjust for proper size? Just wondering.

Thanks!

...

Yes, an image which is larger than 800 pixels will be resized to exactly 800 pixels on the longest dimension (proportions constrained) and the file size will be reduced to something 300 kb., or less. You will not receive a warning message about the resizing. You are subject to the vagaries of the resizer. However, no chance of a DQ for submitting an oversized image. Your image will appear at the proper size in the voting window. It is possible that after the voting phase, the image may appear at the size you uploaded.

Many thanks!! Can I assume the PREVIEW is an accurate representation of my entry?

It should be an accurate representation of what the voters will see, which is not necessarily the same thing.

Your file will not be re-sharpened after resizing, and the amount of compression may not be optimal and could introduce artifacts. Unless you don't have time or resources, it seems to me it would be better to update your entry with a version you've resized yourself.
