Have been shooting my nephews wrestling matches..and the light is usually horrible in the gym. I usually keep the iso bumped up on my D3100 but I am getting a lot of noise in many of my shots. Looking for some recommendations.

Here is the gear I have
Nikon D3100
Nikkor DX AF-S 35mm 1.8
Nikkor DX AF-S 18-55 3.5
Nikkor DX AF-S 55-200 4-5.6

I really like the 35mm prime as it functions really well in low light but I can't always sit at the mats edge. The 55--200 is great but leaves me lot of dark shots and sometimes noisy a the far end of the focal length. Any advice is gratefully accepted!

Thanks
John

I remember when I was at a soccer game where the son of a close friend of mine was playing. I had the D80... not good shots. The only thing you can do is to stay the closer you can and use 35mm. and an external flash if you can get it.

To be honest, the biggest thing you are missing is a longer lens with faster aperture and some light. Do you have a flash? Strobes? 35MM is too short but is fast enough. I'd be looking at investing in a flash to add your own light.
