Looks awesome...

The K-01 is a revolutionary industry first. It is the first mirrorless camera to natively support a SLR lens lineup. Since it employs the Pentax K-mount, it not only supports all current DSLR Pentax lenses, but also all legacy and manual lenses - over 200 of them, if you only count Pentax glass. Open up the floor to third parties and we're looking at a camera that works with thousands of lenses, including M42 mount lenses via the M42 adapter, and medium format lenses via a 645 or 6x7 adapter. The K-01 also has a new image processor which brings it on par with the most modern mirrorless cameras.

It's a pretty nice camera on paper.
But the lack of a viewfinder and articulated lcd is a bit of a letdown..
The k-5 is already pretty small and live view works kind of ok, so this is sort of middle ground between a k-5 and a much smaller camera, let's say a canon G series or s95. Personally, I wouldn't trade my oldish trap for that, but I was kind of hoping the release of the k-01 would bring the k-5 price down a bit.
Just, it's a different segment of the market, so it won't happen, I think.

nice specs. just wondering if the yellow option outweighs the lack of viewfinder and articulated screen.

This is a different opinion on who the camera is for: //www.robertstech.com/blog/?p=541

I'm not sure I agree with that different opinion. If iphone users are wanting to jump further into cameraworld there seems to be a growing set of likely suspects inhabiting the spectrum between point and shoot and dslr. It will be most interesting to see how well this camera competes among them. I am more interested than my yellow remark suggests.

Ohh, well, if yellow colour and slightly odd shape were enough to avoid stares and comments like "woah, that's a BIG camera" during my pitiful attempts at street photography, I would seriously consider it :D
I agree the set of potential buyers is much more varied than what the blogger suggests. Also, I am not quite sure that the point&shoot market is dying as fast as he describes due to mobile phones camera.
Shops here in the UK are still selling P&S by the boatloads, and many models will simply blow any iphone out of the water when it comes to image quality and functions.
Still, I love good EVFs, my first camera actually had the concept reversed, a P&S with a mirror in it to divert the LCD image to the viewfinder, an worked great. Cannot really imagine myself shelling out 700+ for a camera without VF, but that's just me, I guess.
