only figures... i joined just after the last sports challenge, and am currently broken for this sports challenge... sigh
and i've noticed that sports photography is not very popular here (imho) really woulda liked to enter this one :(
i don't think action / event capture photography is well respected on dpc, too bad, as it is a skill that adds so much to ones regular photography.

Previous "sports" were May, May, July and September. There are always sports in progress, but the venues are different in winter, obviously. Also, previous "sports" challenges were under the basic ruleset. This newest one is under Advanced. That does help in winter, as the light (indoors or outdoors) is sometimes difficult.

I'm covering three different sports for the newspaper this week. Basketball, wrestling, and Hockey. There is indoor track going on as well. And I'm in the midwest.

Just got home covered in grass and dirt. You'd think I was playing the sport rather then photographing it.

Tearful? Naah, but I did realize that I could contribute here now and then to a discussion. I even paid a membership to help the site. When Langdon announced he was going to do some upgrades to the site I had hoped for a return to it's glory when the site was fun. So I'm here just to watch and see what happens, and maybe help it along. Besides it's winter and instead of 9 sports to cover for me there are just 3.

I hope you don't mind.

first snow of the year here as well, so in the end... nah, with a healthy hand i would have found someone doing something sporting.
as a suggestion to those with snow and no sports: fast shutter capture a snow ball fight, or a exploding snowball on impact :)
get those kids out side to ''take one for the team''!!

I'm in. First entry for a while, but I couldn't let a sports challenge go by without entering. :)
