Technical help. I need something similar to //www.iogear.com/product/GBP201KIT/ (discontinued). Perhaps it's discontinued for a reason and I can't seem to find anything like it. Any help would be appreciated.

Will ethernet work? There should be plenty of devices that can put a printer onto wireless ethernet.

Trying to do so without ethernet.

I run my printer wireless through my Netgear modem/router. Does that help?

If the printer is USB only, perhaps something like this is what you need. I don't know the exact situation you are facing, so you'll need to determine if this will in fact work.

I want the ability to connect a USB printer to a CPU...basically, I don't want a cord and may not have internet available.

@RamblinR - Does a modem/router require internet?

Ethernet, yes. Internet, no. But I suspect you may be using the term internet when you mean ethernet. Internet being the worldwide network we are on, ethernet being a physical cabling and signalling standard that can be used to connect to the internet. You can certainly create an isolated ethernet network, without any external connectivity needed. I do it all the time.

Looks like it works with the regular USB type (A?). The USB for the printer I am inquiring about is a type (B) version.

Ethernet could work then as long as it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

If you could give us a better idea of the project and the reason you need it to be wireless, we might be able to suggest a better solution.

A basic wireless router can be had for under $30. Connect that to the computer. Then you'll need a USB to Wireless print server to put on the printer. Might be just as good to buy a printer that has wireless built in. I have a Samsung ML-2525W that was on sale for $80 at Fry's. It has built in wired and wireless ethernet.
