I could have saturated better on his right side.

This is one of my first attempts at photography and not just snapping pictures.

This picture was not planned, and they boy was depressed because his mother was taken back to Mexico one week before this shot.

nice shot. seems a bit oversaturated tho. Maybe tone down the sat & use a bit of neatimage to get rid of the noise.
Good stuff!

yep. You can dload a free version, altho limited, for use. It removes the noise from pics. Its rather easy to use but can make things look unreal if over done. Do a check for it on google & get yourself a version! It's pretty cool. It can also help to bring down file size for the days when entering shots in challenges but you dont want to reduce the actually size of the pic. Give it a whirl & be sure to post a shot so we can see! Good luck!

I think that be bringing him out in color, it brings to my attention more so that the focus is off.

There is some color bleeding into the girl to his left (our right). That said I'm not sure if the selective desaturation helps this photo a lot. It really really forces your attention to the boy. But I think his emotions are strong enough where they don't need anymore attention brought to them. Not only is he attention grabbing, but he's also the only one looking at the camera... in a huge crowd.

My recommendation is have this be a true black and white photo. I think it will bring out the most emotion without distraction.

Ok, here is my final edit.

Thanks for the recommendations including the B&W. Is it cropped to much?

I don't mind the 5x7 look.
