We recently leased a new, 2011 Mazda CX7.

We got a multi-page survey from a company hired by Mazda to rate our experiences in detail. Along with that, a $2 cheque for our time.

I find that insulting.

I wrote in fat, red marker on the cheque, "Funny. You should be embarrassed. Keep your $2." Put it in the stamped, return envelope, and mailed it. The survey went into the recycling.

#1. Mazda is paying this survey company, I'd rather see the $2 come off the price tag.
#2. Give me a survey and offer me nothing, it will go into the recycling.
#3. Give me a survey and offer me $2, it will go into the recycling and I'll be insulted.
#4. Give me a survey and offer me something worth while and I'll fill it out. How about half off an oil change at the dealership?

Anyhoo... my rant du jour.

ah slippy, almost everything is insulting these days. I have a neighbor keeping track of the bumwipe scams - you know like the chocolate bar, the yoghurt? everything gets smaller and smaller and smaller -- no, that's not true: the HOLE in the role will soon be able to swallow the universe.

not just insulting - DEPRESSING. the boardrooms where they sit around deciding how they are going to deliver less product, or how they are going to get their darn surveys. at the end of the day do they go home and bash their family or do they slip into the bath and cut their wrists?

Marketing conducted research on 1000 chimpanzees. A banana was placed in front of each chimp along with a pen and paper survey form. 63% made pen marks on the form, as they consumed the banana. The survey results were not important, but the receptive chimps retained a favorable impression of the banana distributor.
