Does anyone have any websites that might be able to help me plan for this trip? I'm hoping to make it a long weekend (4 days, 5 days tops) and I live in philadelphia, so I'll be driving up. Where to stay, where to hike, what to photograph (first time going, so I'd imagine I wanna hit the "hot spots" first), etc... I'd imagine there's gotta be some website with this information. I'm asking here because I'd rather have the photographers POV instead of a tourist/tourists guild type of view.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jeremy,

You probably meant Acadia Park up in Maine right? If so, I'm also curious and have this thread on watch.

Acadia is an awesome park, with a lot of character. We were there a couple summers ago, and loved it. Bar Harbor is really a cool town to walk around and get some good shots. Lots of fishing/lobster stuff hanging around, nice shots of boats, etc.

I really enjoyed the time we spent at the Bass Harbor Lighthouse:

Around sunset you'll find a bunch of photographers gathered on the rocks below it to get shots like that. Jordan Pond was a very pretty area. We drove up Cadillac Mountain, which has awesome views. Thunder Hole was really cool, but potentially dangerous. A 7-year-old girl was killed there two days after we visited.

Anyway... it's a beautiful park. I've become a really big fan of National Parks these last several years.

Ok, I live about 45 minutes from Mount Desert Island. I go to Acadia about 15 times a year, all year long. I am not a website, however I can answer just about any questions you may have involving the island, or anything else near it!
