Just finished a wedding. I was wondering do you Watermark any of the shots? I know people fall on different sides of the spectrum.

So When do you watermark and when do you not? For weddings and Client photos in general whether they be babies, engagements, models etc?

watermark EVERYTHING that you care about that you are going to put online

also, embed complete copyright information in EVERY file you upload and/or deliver

it's a matter of personal style as to how big, how wordy, and where to put it

I fill out the copyright section of the IPTC data -- do you also write it out (with address?) in the comments section?

one thing i've found is that different presentation platforms pull from different areas of the IPTC. i also recommend captioning all your images from the same shoot with a basic, generic caption that also includes a copyright notice. for example, "Mary Perkins and Marty Ross were wed on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, June 18, 2011. Nearly 100 guest celebrated the nuptials at St Margret's Cathedral and the reception at the Glades Country Club. Copyright © Jack Schmidt." it's a good idea to have at least something, and you can always add additional info on individual images if you want. (i also recommend putting in at least the basic keywords at the same time that you're doing your captioning - and that's one thing i like about Lightroom: i can do almost all of this when i'm ingesting my images.)

some platforms pull only from the caption/description field, some from the copyright field. even though facebook actually pulls from both - which doubles up the notice - i'd rather be safe than sorry.
