I'm pretty sure a member or two listed veterinarian or vet tech in one of those 'What's your occupation?' threads and/or challenges. Not a vet but I work with animals for a living and usually am fairly good at educated guesses when it comes to things like spotting lameness or illness. Willing to give it a shot.

I'm not a vet but I did bring my poodle to one last weekend at 1:00AM ! Something was wrong with her ear and she was about to take it off !

So, 1960's in Japan counts as the age of mythology?

The GOLDEN AGE of Mythology, as a matter of fact. :P

LOL - Socom, you really should request that the SC change the topic title. :)

Hmm...assuming kenskid means that the poodle was just suddenly scratching her ear that badly...ear mites possibly? Or a tick, I saw a wild rabbit recently just going nuts trying to dislodge a huge fat tick from the base of its ear. Poor thing had about another dozen ticks visible, glad I was shooting it from about 20 feet away with a telephoto.

I run the City's Animal Control now and worked for a vet in high school. What's up? I might be able to assist the diagnosis.

I fear it is too late. The naked mole rat has died in his arms.

LOL, and I almost felt pretty silly for my post after 37 veterans posted... :) Good to know it wasn't completely insane of me to wonder..
