So I ended up buying the d700 a few weeks ago. I went ahead and splurged and bought the 24-70 2.8 .

I went out shooting with it yesterday, I'm blown away and in love with this lens. The clarity and the almost 3d look you get from it are incredible. The reviews and comments were right.

It'll have to take a hell of a lens to make me take this off my body.

It's kind of scary to admit, but I think most of us know the feeling. Enjoy!

Oh yes, we do! One look at my gear list will confirm my status as a lens polygamist :-P
The Canon equivalent is the lens that resides on my camera by default. Both the Canon and Nikon 24-70/28s are great pieces of glass, and it's no wonder you're in lurve.

I recently got this lens as well as i was offered a fantastic deal on it which was too good to miss. I'm not really a zoom shooter but it is a great lens although, to be honest, i was less impressed by it after being used to my 35, 50 and 85 primes. The quality is certainly comparable but i think not giving me any different range made me less inclined to jump up and down with excitement (as i imagine i would do with the 70-200). Still, that's no fault of the lens of course. I've got an engagement party to shoot tomorrow and i'm hoping to try my hand at some weddings in the future (hopefully with a d700 i'm planning on getting next year) and it'll be great for them.
