I'm shooting a wedding in 2 weeks and i'm looking to rent the nikon 70-200 f2.8. The difference in rental price between the VRI and the VRII is $20, didn't know if anyone noticed or saw any major differences between the two to warrant the difference?

You'll likely be just fine with the VR1 version. Presumably the time you'd be using that lens the most would be during the ceremony (at least that's when I'm using mine), and since I'm using a tripod, the VR is a non-issue anyway. If you were hand-holding the camera while using that lens, the VRII would get you an extra stop or so, I believe.

Well the ceremony is outside on the beach so i'm probably going to hand hold. I'm debating which lens on which body. Ive got a d700 and a d90.

I'm going to rent the 70-200 2.8 and then i've got the 24-70 2.8 that ive got.

Recommendations? Typical first wedding questions...

Put each lens on its own body and switch between the two. It's faster, you're not changing lenses in the sand and you'll look way more badass than Uncle Fred.

The 70-200 and 24-70 are the standards...along with the 85 1.8 prime.

Just don't forget to practice with each of the rented lenses before shooting, especially in similar light conditions to where you will be for the wedding. There is nothing like experience with your equipment to ensure the best photos possible.

Thanks Peter. Yeh i was doing the 3 day rental so i figure i could get a couple days before the wedding to run down to each venue and play around.

I'd keep the 24-70 on the D700 and put the long zoom on the crop body.. Have fun.
