Based on the other thread, now I'm curious: what is the first comment you received, and who was it from?

My first comment received, which was also on my first entry, was from Smardaz

"I like the drops of water on the stems"

"Nice, but nothing to focus on. Boring compared to the rest in this challenge." from carlo.

A pretty fair critique, really :0{ I have got better since then!

I'm not a big fan of oof foreground objects that take up alot of space but it seems to work for this shot. It gives this a peek through the woods feel.

Hey, it wasn't a critique, so that was good! It actually did reasonably well for a first challenge, but looking back on it now, I can see why it didn't pull in a higher average.

My first comment was received from (beginner's luck):

Comment by posthumous:
I do believe this is by a certain poet and I love me a good poem.
posthumous art gallery
for:

The History Lesson

I had to ask who and what posthumous was and Melethia was kind to explain how the site works.

I have a few Grog comments that haven't been marked helpful. Ingrates. Unappreciative of the fine art of my comments.

My very first comment came from Photologist:

"I just wish the photo would have been larger. Thte max size can have a side up to 640px in length. This photo, being so small, it's hard to inspect the detail. A larger photo would have earned at least another point."

Well, it was all downhill from there...;-P

Wow, that was a bit harsh -- and from someone that never submitted to a challenge. However, I would have to say you have learned to edit quite well.

I'm not posting a thumb. You can dig it up yourself if you want to. It was a candid from my sons' birthday party. A very unauspicious first entry. Sure to disappoint almost as much as my more recent entries.

Anyway, my first comment was on this first entry. From JenniferDavidGA:

4

And that about quantifies my entire DPC experience. If only she knew.

For the record, Brian, I gave your photo a 7 in that challenge...;-)

You owe me a cup of home made roasted coffee...;-P

Oy. That's even more embarrassing than the image itself.

That's homeroasted coffee, my dear. And I'd be happy to. You bring the pizzelles. Extra anise please.

"Made me smile - and could have worked for the coffee challenge too! Great concept!"

image was absolutely killed in that challenge by the troll voters, but I got some nice comments.

as for my own first comment:
"One of my favorites of the challenge" on an image that finished 3rd from last. If that doesn't define my DPC style, nothing does :P

Nice composition...signs between the pump top. By The_Tourist

lovethelight was my first. She said:
Really nice processing on this. The sky probably didn't need to be so deeply saturated, but I like the contrast between the dusk lighting on the car and the bright sky. I also like the variety of colors in the truck.

Yo_Spiff checked in later with this to say:
Love these old rusty crusties, another for my faves.
