Orange UK rates DPC as a site not suitable....

....for people under 18.

Today I decided to go out and take some photos for the mobile phone-challenge, and when I was out and about I needed to check DPC for some reason. What do I get?

"Orange safeguard has classified this page as only suitable for people over the age of 18."

There is an option to have the site reviewed again, and so I did. Got a text back;

Why Orange, why is DPC for people aged 18 and over? Now I have to go to an Orange shop with photo id and act like a perv who wants to surf "grown up-content".

Yup. Too many racy photos. Understandable, but still frustrating. What are you trying to access it through that is filtering it like this?

But it still seems weird, both reddit and 4chan are ok to visit, and both sites have a lot more of the adult content.. And nude is not equal to porn.

Is it marketed at the teen crowd, or is the filter something your parents have set it up with? Can't buck the parents.

Agreed, but filtering software does not make that distinction. And some parents might object to any nudes, even tasteful artistic ones.

No, it's not something my parents have done, just Orange. I'm 24 and live in a different country than what my parents live in, so I really hope that they aren't the evil minds behind this ^^

And it's not a software, it's real humans sitting there and checking the websites if you ask them for a second review. I still think it's bollocks.

That's silly! The phone company decides what they think is appropriate for their customers?! I assumed from the earlier conversation that you were under 18 and maybe had a phone provided by parents. Wow.

I'm on the virgin network and have no problem viewing dpc but I'm not allowed to check the national lottery results :-(

How odd, I didn't know mobile operators blocked sites.

I'm with 3 in the UK and have never come across this.
