I haven't voted yet but this image may influence my decision today.

Bhahahahahaahahaha.

I voted. It was a strategic "get that asshole Harper out of government" vote. Not that it'll work, but I tried.

We can dream! Fingers crossed though.

I totally cracked up over the comment someone left there: "They say if Jack tries to shave his mustache off, there’s just another mustache underneath it anyway. He’s THAT awesome."

In my riding, "cabinet minister" and local puppet of the Dear Leader Ms. Raitt is sure to win her seat back, unless some miracle happens. I voted my conscience for the first time ever in this riding, not worrying about vote splitting. It felt so good.

I was listening to Rex Murphy the other day, and apparently a third of voters are voting strategically. As he said, if that isn't an indictment of first past the post, nothing is. Only one leader is even talking about electoral reform, and dared bring it up during the debate.

I'm so hoping for a miracle.

The "conservatives" aren't PC though, they're Reform. They're not even OLD Reform, they're a brand new kind of scarier Reform.

The only thing they want to reform is reforming all the great advances we've made in the last few decades back to the 50s.

Yup -- they should get plenty of these ... :-(

ETA: Actually, there are about six parties appearing regularly on the ballot in California, but only two ever win anything of importance.

I wish. Burlington is now just plain old "C". Anyway, my riding is Halton, and Lisa Raitt has it locked up I'm sure.

I never thought I'd actually miss the PCs. :-(

The sad truth about this country is that we no longer have a Conservative Party. We have a centrist right, coupled with left, and and ultra left parties.

The social net has been transformed into a hammock, and everyone wants something for nothing.

If that's the case, I'll have ultra left, please, over centrist right.

The "centrist" in that right, by the way, only refers to fiscal conservatism, and certainly not social conservatism. I could swallow a conservative government in this country if not for all the rightist social baggage.

Aye, what Louis said. "Centrist" fiscally, yes. Socially? About as centrist as the number 2 on a 30cm ruler.

Harper stays. Now we just wait to see if it's a majority or not. I feel like throwing up.

Majority. Ouch. Twitter is disgusted, everyone seems unhappy. We really need that electoral reform. Too bad it wont happen this decade, even with Jack as the Opposition leader.

I'm angry. Very angry.

I probably need to step away from the internet, my phone, and any thing that puts me into contact with friends and family that I know voted conservative, or there's going to be blood this night.

The BQ is almost wiped off the map. Who knew.

So 60% of voters cast a ballot for a left-of-centre party, and the tories win a majority. How is that not s broken electoral system? :-)
05/02/2011 11:28:40 PM · #20
It was broken in the same way when the Liberals won similar majorities in the past.

Meaning: It's still broken just not to your liking this time around.

I could have lived with PC minority, not sure about a majority.

As I am certain many others could have. Take the time to thank the "Coalition" for an election that truly was not wanted nor warranted.

Any bets Iggy moves to some other country.

Unfortunately, it will probably remain broken since PEI will never give up any seats as their 4 seats are part of the constitution. Rep by Pop would require them to give up some.

None.

Now there is nothing requiring the Conservatives to cooperate with the Opposition, let alone the other parties. Not that they felt obligated even in minority. Just remember Ray -- 60% of Canada are unhappy with the result.
