Yup! I've started a camera bag business! I only have one bag right now (more are on the drawing board) because this one alone took 8 months to get just right. It's finally finished, though, and the website is up! The bag is meant to be a day excursion pack, so not something you stuff in every piece of gear you own. It's also made to not look like a camera bag... in order to make you look cool, and to ward of thieves. So, without further ado, check out Blackstone Bags :)

Cool concept!

Where are you based out of? Any chances that Canadian stores might start to stock it?

I like it. You should send me one to test out and write a review on ;)

Interesting concept but I have a question, are you trying to make up words? What does Secondivly really mean?

When I google it your page is the first to come up on the list....

What the man said. Cool concept (and I have some experience in this sort of manufacturing, actually; I even still have golf and duffel bags I made myself) but a bunch of grammar-type errors in the site. You need a professional editor (me), preferably one (like me) who will trade editing for a bag :-)

I'll assume I'll get my cut for original proof reading to show the need for such editing.

maybe it's just me, but if I were to buy this bag I would want to know more about it... i.e. it looks like there is a zipper compartment on the side? I would like a video showing all the features...even just a link on your webpage to a video on youtube showing you opening up the bag, explaining all it's features and then loading it up with your gear... Then I would consider buying it... you really have to market it because it's simmilar in a way to Lowepro's sling back bag I can get down the street at Henry's for $80... you have to show it off more (i.e. video...) tell me WHY it's better than the lowepro version...

just my advice.. but I'm no expert... just somebody with 30 camera lenses, 5 bodies, and over 10 different lowepro and think tank camera bags.... =)

I'm always interested in spending money on more gear, but you have to show me why your product is unique...

Haha... ok, ok, I took it off. It's a word from Arrested Development, my all time favorite TV show. I think 'secondivly' is one of the greatest words that's not in the English language.

For sure. We only received our most recent prototype on Monday, and built the site and took the pictures within the last 3 days, so we haven't had time for a video yet. The time-line and locations are all figured out, so a video is definitely on the list of things to do!

To be taken serious in the business world, you need to act serious about your products and promoting them. I'd consider a more straightforward approach.

Don't use cheap zippers or Slippy will get peeved.

ETA... I like the design.

A suggestion for a feature that very few camera bag companies have latched onto: Design a bag with a compartment and hose guides for a hydration reservoir, such as a Camelbak.

Serious about the products, yes. That doesn't mean humorless. Even with something as deadly serious as a camera bag...Look at the names Crumpler gives to its bags...totally serious.

It's okay to be cheeky. Not everything needs to super serious. Let the lawyers handle the serious wording, and have fun, and be true to your own humor. People who appreciate it will follow.

Eh...not necessarily good advice. If you want to be boring and look like everyone else, you need to be serious. If you want to build a brand people connect with, probably not.

I like the design. It looks comfortable and light.

Looks like a novel and interesting design.

Does it have pockets for filters and accessories?

On your website, I couldn't find any photos of it being opened in sling mode.

It would be really cool if it had a camera holster sort of thing on the front strap. The kind that hooks to your tripod quick release attachment.

One stupid thing I'd be concerned about...are overzealous security guards and police going to mistake that for a gun bag or other security threat? It's unfortunately a similar shape.

By being serious I meant not looking like an idiot with spelling and grammatical errors. Unless you are a fan of the show(which I'm not) I just assumed he couldn't spell and was making up words. I don't want to trust 10K worth of camera gear to a guy who can't at least use proper words to describe an item he is asking me to spend $125 on.

how could you be "...created by a team of photographers in May 2011...", I think your calendar is fast

also, the bag may not look like there's a camera inside, but it definitely doesn't look normal, if I were a thief I would still target this, in my opinion

Looks like a functional product. For future development I would suggest some cool graphics, styles , maybe some cooler straps to make it more fashionable. It could double up for those part time photogs and definitely disguise it better.

You need me on R&D :)

I'm not seeing where you put the beer? ;-)

Actually, I'd be more in the market for something that would hold every piece of gear I own. (I'm always wanting something I left behind.)

Now a camera bag that looks like a diaper bag...that would be awesome. Especially if it had a lens case disguised as a baby bottle. Maybe some fake poop and barf stains too/
