Starting with me.

Some of you know what I feel about this dumbest website called 1x (one exposure). A few people dictates the outcome of things, and I don't like it. It's a slow loading, dark, cold dungeon-like place makes me sick to my stomach.

I started DPC 2006 and got my first ribbon year after. I was a registered user of 1x for around a few months, it's not rejection throw me off, it's the environment and the feeling of being worthless.

Some of you angry at me because I think that way. I can't stop you being angry at me as much as you can't stop me hating that website. I am now starting this thread, if anyone wants to join please tell your reason why... even if it's only me who will die with this thread, I am ok with it.

Leo

Rejecting this? F..in idiots :(

Don't be a hater. Art isn't about hate. Can't you let those people have their website and run it the way they see fit? If you hadn't been rejected on that site, I'm sure your description of it would be quite different.

Man up.

Hi, Leo,
Do you want to start competition to 1x? Say 3rd.com with us as screeners? :)
PS I meant 3rd column not rule of 3rds

i don't know about that, what that tells me about him is he probably does not mark alot of comments helpful that say things like "nice shot!", which while nice to get, are not really helpful in the true sense of the word

How many would you have as helpful yourself?
PS I just checked, your stats:
# Received: 2,764
# Helpful: 2,670
PS2 To me it says: "I appreciate the time people took to look at my images. Therefore I marked them as helpful. It is not beyond me to do that."

If you don't like the site, don't visit it. Its that simple.
Posting a thread about it just shows that it is getting to you

I don't want Leo's thread to get off track but I mark comments mostly to let people know I read them. That does not mean I think everyone should.
One of my favs njsabs only has about a 1/4 of hers marked as helpful, I don't know why but I don't think anyone would impute bad motives to her or disregard a comment she made.

there is a difference in ignoring someone and starting a thread to bash them and call them "f-ing idiots"

I am a bit confused about your motives there but another stats I have not come across is this:

"Selected by other users:
# Photographer: 488 times
# Photographs: 1163 times
User's favorites: (view all)
# Photographers: 0
# Photographs: 30"

It seems very much to be a one way street. You could be proud of this but I would not.

Exactly Jason. Completely unnecessary thread.

I think I have to make it clear that I am not anti 1x. In fact I would like to get my photos published on 1x. And while I think Leo is very upset about 1x the way he has been told off is not nice at all. And I do have a problem with people who criticize others while holding themselves high above everyone else.
03/29/2011 01:45:41 AM · #17
If there is thread with "1x rejection club" with images rejected, I also have rights to start this one, and see if anyone actually rejected 1x and moved on, and why.

For the "f..in idiots", I stand by my comment. Some people think they are superior than others and act that way... I happened to express my feeling for them as well, nothing wrong with it. That doesn't mean it includes everyone in there.

plus, as some of you think I should not complain publicly and just stop going there, well, why are you here to comment against my thread? there are other threads. That means you annoyed and wanted to say something? I am doing exactly the same thing.

... and I am not even rejecting anyone's perfect work :-|

1x sucks to the bone!

By the way, if you want to know what's the perfect world for me... it's DPC. It is simple, consistent, and much more friendlier. Other wise I wouldn't spend hundreds of dollars to contribute what I contribute so far... which also includes membership giveaways.

why are you so concerned about other people stats? You could take anything and pick it apart, such as:

Marnets Avg Vote Cast: 5.2406

Should we assume you find everyones work average compared to your own? I am guessing thats not the case but we could make that assumption.

It's my Lack of English. I just can't express myself correctly sometimes. All I wanted with this thread is to see if anyone else actually quit 1x, and why. If I am the only one, well, that's ok.

You are kidding, aren't you? Do you know what average means?

Leo, I do indeed know that you 'hate' 1x.com. So effusive have you been on this topic that I think about your views each time I visit.

I've always been confused though, your reaction to the look of the site seems disproportionate, your opener in this thread isn't helping me get my head around why you are so vocal about it.

For me, the overall quality of image shown on 1x.com blows the quality shown here right out of the water - as it should, here on DPC we see unfiltered efforts, there we see images that have been finely sifted - the images I screen there are certainly lower in average quality than on the published site.

I visit 1x.com often, I submit quite often (though less than I used to) and am rejected in the ratio of about 12:1. But there is no doubt it has made me a better photographer. I go for the images, not the site.

What about you, I understand you don't like the site - but what of the work, the images? You feel there is no merit in exploring them? You don't find the quality of the work to be very high? You wouldn't be inspired by any of the shots there?

Nothing you have said so far explains the anger you express about the site on a regular basis.

As for the rejected image you cite, I have no problems with it being rejected at 1x.com. Who is it you think rejected it? It was likely reject by consensus. For what it is worth (which isn't much) It doesn't do a lot for me - it's technically OK but unmoving. A rejection decision would be consistent with the work that gets shown there. Sure, there are decisions that get taken there that I don't agree with either, but in the final analysis I wouldn't want to miss out on thumbing through the work there.

of course i know what it means, it's actually below average, thats not my point. its that you seem very quick to criticize people based on the stats on their page without even asking them about it first
