Anybody interested in a road trip to Rocky Mountain National Park? There are some awesome opportunities up there. In light of the thread regarding permits/etc., I'm going to call ahead of time, just to make sure the rangers know what's happening.

Anybody care to go?

I'd love to go, if that "road" for the road trip wasn't so many hundreds of miles long! LOL

Trust me...I understand. I took 3 of my little ones, plus my wife, from Denver to Lake Jackson, TX a few weeks ago. Talk about a looooooong drive. I thought I would go nutso. I guess that's why they have airplanes now :)

Was actually thinking of going up NEAR there tomorrow to shoot a glacier. I have another photo friend around here and we were going to get together to go up there and waste some digital space and time. Love to know when ya plan.
I am in Greeley...don't forget Loveland and Estes Park people, too. (C:

I'm actually going to be in Colorado Springs the last week of July. I'd love to meet some local area DPCers while recovering from my exposure to the East Coast. Any takers?

Hmmm, Helen Hunt Falls or Garden of the Gods? I'm stuck in the Springs since I'll have no car and need to mooch of the parentals.

Let me know when!

We're planning to do some 4-wheel driving up in the back country around the Keystone/Breckenridge area soon. If anyone has a vehicle that would like to follow along you're welcome to come (all our seats are filled with kids) There is nothing like seeing the world at 14,000 feet!

Late notice, I know, but I'm heading up tomorrow to RMNP. Anybody wants to join, feel free to PM me.

I'd be down for meeting up.

I was actually up at RMNP yesterday, but hell, I'll go again. I have a year pass but they never checked it or anything so it was free I guess. The road to glacier/bear lake trailhead is closed so you have to take the bus. The earliest bus leaves at 5AM, so you might be able to get to a nice spot in time for a sunrise.

I'm in South Denver. I'd like to leave as early as my two girls will allow (probably around 6:30am or so. I would like to have a full day if possible

I'm telling ya, you should leave real early for sunrise. It was AWESOME yesterday.

Edit: where were you planning to hike around?

Edit 2: BTW, here are some pics I took yesterday:

For anybody that doesn't know what we're talking about and is interested in where this place is:

I would love too, but have the 2 year old (not a problem) and a model from CHeyenne coming into town around 4PM. I want to be fresh. (C:
Might be up around there Tues or Wed though.
Oh yeah...Some pics from a few weeks ago. Just finishing editing the rest, here.

So Lafaminit, are you still going? What time?

Basically, I'd be looking for a sunrise trip. I know it's early, but it's worth it. First bus from the car park to bear/glacier trailhead leaves at 5AM.

So it depends on what your plans are, but I figure my summer days in Colorado are numbered (5) , so I gotta make the most of each one. Yes I am a procrastinator. Anyhow, I was thinking about going to the pawnee buttes tomorrow AM too...

Actually, if it works out, maybe we could pospone a trip until wednesday with dacrazyrn. :-\

sorry all..just got home. My girls have informed me that, yes, we're still going. It'll be a late start, so maybe we'll do this one by ourselves and hope to hook up with others sometime soon.

Yea, I guess I am going to bail on this one. Hope you guys have fun though! Bring back pics :)

I am planning on heading over to the pawnee grasslands tomorrow AM... actually a little before then for star trails (yes, I'm crazy). The area isn't quite as exciting as RMNP, but at least it'll give me time to focus a bit more and try some creative shots. I'm thinking botany :)

I disagree! It is just as exciting, as long as you know what you are looking for and want to shoot. Rattlesnakes, all the hawks and eagles out there, many birds, pheasants, insects and flowers.
I did this one out there a year ago. Miscalculated where the moon was coming up. I wanted to try to catch it coming up between the cliffs. Misjudged that in the dark. So starting shooting flowers at night. I love it out there, but then I grew up on the NE plains of CO.

Yeah, it should be fun - I haven't been hiking around the buttes for almost 8 years. Suppose I should remember to bring the telephoto lens along eh?

I really like the Pawnee Grassland though... here's a shot that I rather fancy:
