Chris, to post a link to a DPC entry, copy the image ID, highlight it and click on the second from right square above.

i feel your photo would have benefited from a shallow Scurve in curves, probably more in the lower left half of the curve to add some contrast and darken the blacks. It might also benefit from a little more sharpening - always a fine call, because too much and it can make a photo look awful. Are you sharpening before or after you resize? the editing was from the advanced ruleset, and under that you could have cloned out the slightly distracting light patch in the upper right.

Thanks for the reply Sara. :) I'm sharpenning before i resize the photo. I don't really know what tools i can use at the Advanced Editting. Can i use clone?

P.S. First post editted. :)

Okay...I took your original image (not the submitted one) and did a QUICK edit with the following:

Levels
Contrast
Increased the cyan
Decreased the Magenta and Yellow
Cloned out the funky thing in the upper right
resized
Sharpened

I didn't do anything to the blue cloth the hands are on...or the funky coloring of the upper wrist.

Here's what I have:

That's the problem that I had with it, as well -- the colors were just off. Were you using regular house lighting? Setting your white balance accordingly before taking the shot can make a big difference. The hands were just too yellow.

Things that I would have considered doing:

I didn't get the hand color right, but I would have tried to solve that with the white balance. However, other things I would have done: select the glass and saturate a little more and play a tad with the levels or curves on the glass.

Select the background and make it black instead of blue (simply by adjusting the curves

Thanx Wendy.
I though I couldn't select a part of the photo and only edit that. Is that only in Advanced Editting?

oops. sorry!! Yes that's only advanced editing. I forgot to check to see what the challenge was listed under.

Wait... 4 elements was advanced editing -- so yes, you can select parts and edit.
