So this has been tossed around a couple of times when talking to friends on here, so I was wondering if anyone had some thoughts of a GTG

Images of Heaven

It would be a few days, a week or more, of camping down to the most gorgeous place that Arizona has to offer. We would need to go by mule Mule Link

Camping is the only way to go Tent link

I was thinking along the lines of the end of May-beginning of June (schools out then) it is really hot at that time of year, but will be cooler up there, but the water would be a lot warmer for swimming and playing around in.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So just tossing the idea out there to see if anyone would like to think about it!
OH! This or the Redrock GTG? Maybe both!
I would be very interested.
Just be aware that it's a VERY primitive experience, and physically arduous. If you can't ride, it's an 8-mile hike down into the canyon, then back out, and it's a scary trail. The campsites have no showers, and no campfires are allowed. It's a real get-away-from-it-all experience for sure. I have been down there, albeit a LONG time ago, but from the website, nothing's changed except they have gotten even stricter...
It's a wonderful trip... But I wouldn't try to do it now, at age 64 with my knees...
That is very true Bear, it is a long hike down. The fire thing I did not know about though. Thanks for pulling that one up. I have camp stove top thingys that would work and thank fully they do have mules for your gear.
This is certainly not a walk in the woods, but I think if enough people came, it would seem like one!
What a beautiful trip! (Although I confess, when it comes to camping the only number of stars I want to see are FIVE STARS...;-)...)
Hmmmm...I think you can go by helicopter as well!
This place has been on my "to do" list for a while, but not a reality for me right now!
Have fun!
I always wanted to backpack down in there for a couple days. I started planning trips there a few times but something else better would come up and we'd go somewhere else.
I believe you still have to make reservation pretty far in advance?
And, it's a primitive camp miles form civilization without the peace and solitude that normally comes with a primitive camp miles from civilization. This is probably the reason other trips have always won out for me?
I have heard some horror stories about overcrowding, lack of enough bathrooms, theft, the locals being threatening in recent years. but everyone I know that has been down there had a great time.
Is this GTG still being considered?
