My home network consists of just my PC and one laptop.I have DPP but it does not support networking.I just need to be able to sort and organise my photo library whilst I am sitting in the lounge with my laptop. Can anyone suggest some software preferably freeware?

It doesn't support it? Interesting. I can't attest to that fact but have you tried reaching a computer in your home network by IP? \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\fileshare

If the software won't allow for network locations you could map a drive to the same network fileshare.

Personally I would just map the network drive from your PC to your laptop... that way it shows up as a local drive letter on your laptop and you should be able to access / organise it just fine that way

I just confirmed that mapping in DPP (Digital Photo Professional) DOES work.

How are your folders network and how were you trying to access them?

Well I started over and had no problem creating the network.Previously my PC was a wired connection and my laptop wireless, just in case this was a problem I have connectesd a cable to the Laptop just for now.I cleared all of my shared files and folders and started new.
I have my library folder on the PC shared and the laptop can see it I can expand the folder directory and view all of the folders within it in MSPaint and Picasa but in DPP although it can see the folder it will not expand to the folders within.
The only way that I can see them in DPP is to change the properties to share for each individual folder on my PC.
Having done all of this, I think that I am asking too much of the laptop it only has an AMD2800 2.2GHz processor and the RAW files are taking a time to access.
Thanks for your help,I have learnt a lot in the last couple of days.

Went to the Canon website and downloaded latest ver of DPP (3.9.3.0) I had ny original which was 2.0.1.This is such a basic problem solver that I should have thought of before. So all working OK now.
