Found this and thought I would share - I wouldn`t say they are the best images, just some great captures.

Warning, some gore in there and some upsetting images.

Madonna kissing Brittney? ;) What is that even in there for? Really?

Boston.com's big picture has a nice set of photos from this year - stunning stuff (as always)

If I recall this was a `story` at the time. In this world where sexuality sells its the kind of thing that knocks real stories off the frontpages - I think its inclusion amongst some of the more horrific shots is actually rather clever, in a mocking, cynical way.

When I compare picture 71 and 72 it makes me wonder why the world is what it is.

These are the best images of our world of the last decade? Depressing.

With all that "Depressing" comments here... I am not even looking at those images. I want to start my day happy.

I wonder "who" chooses those images to become "Photo of the decade" anyways?

144 images, and the overall impression is that it was a decade of bombs.

That's photojournalism for you. Suffering, strife, and death. The photos of dead children...I have no ambition to be a photojournalist.

Yeah, it was big news for about a week in 2003. The full-on girl-girl kisses during the VMA's was definitely shocking to mainstream American culture. On second thought, I agree with you on the clever inclusion :)

Yeah, tell me about it. When was the last time traffic was stalled because a beautiful double rainbow was in the sky?

I would have stopped if I hadn't been on the freeway ...

And we created a sizable parking lot from a simple turnout shooting the last big "Moon event" ...
