Your Tube Linkie

Not sure what I think of this...... Obviously cool but subliminal pushing of a commercial while in an interesting way is sort of annoying and I hope it never catches on.... but hey it's very cool.

Edit: Should have also mentioned it breaks the fourth wall as well at the end which you don't see much.

Pretty cool AND worrisome...

I must be getting too old and my eyes are no longer functioning as they should since nothing happened when I closed my eyes.

The Youtube version doesn't work. I think you needed to be there with a real flash.

I can see the next step twenty years from now...

"...and then, utilizing carefully implanted electrodes in the viewers brains..."

Thanks Doc... this process is nothing new is it?

I seem to recall something akin to this many many years ago where subliminal messages were inserted in frames... not exactly the same I understand, but the end results would be, wouldn't they.

Yeah... not going to work with video - you need to see the flash to burn the image.

It's not subliminal really in this case since it's explicit and a bit of a party trick - not the same as the inserting of frame every 20 odd frames in a movie. I don't think the frame insert actually works well anyway... in some places it's not allowed.

Just thought it was interesting..... and not something I want to see starting to hit a local movie theater near you......

On second thoughts... How about we start stuffing our logos onto the inside of our softboxes :-) Enough flashes at high power and the clients will see our name for days and all night :-) Maybe should move this post to the business forum :-)

I saw the M vaguely if that counts although I did stare at the screen with enough intensity to make my eyes hurt and half an hour later they're still hurting.. damn.

Yeah...I've already solved the problem for this as well as when TV stations jack up the volume for commercials: pause live TV mode.

1) If shows start at 8pm and run to 10, I pause a few minutes before 8.
2) We sit down and start to watch at 8:20 or so.
3) We skip over all commercials.
4) We end our TV watching around the time it ends in real life.

Thus:

1) We gain 20 minutes
2) We don't deal with the subliminals or loud volume

Speaking of loud volume in commercials (something I've been whining about for years), a bill was recently passed that would reduce the volume of TV commercials.

YAAAAAAY!!!

Sorry to hijack the thread. Back to the use of flash in commercials....

It did not work for me, I closed my eyes and fell asleep and starting dreaming of Nikon Lenses dancing around a Christmas tree.

Very cool. But, as punishment to the networks for all those years, we're still going to offset our watching... :)

I think the trick was to get people to watch the ad. Mission accomplished.

...a better trick would be to get people to purchase BMW motorcycles. :O)

I don't think you actually get the "flash" in the video clip. It just shows "flash inserted here" and "here is where people were told to close their eyes". That is why we aren't seeing it.
