wondering, where you have the best luck finding used lenses for sale....

Right here, and eBay.

Alex beat me to saying it. If you can be patient for what you want to come around, DPC members usually offer very fair deals to one another. I think I only have one lens I bought new at a local shop. Others came from:

1 refurb from Adorama
2 used from other DPC members
1 used from Ebay
1 used from Craigslist
1 used from a local shop

I looked on ebay... nothing within 200 miles of me (I really like when I am driving distance to what I am buying)

where exactly on here? is there a special marketplace here?

and thanks!

Yes, sort of. The buy/sell forum is a benefit for paying members.

A good on-line retailer that deals in used equipment is KEH. Their prices are going to be higher than buying through a private party, but they are *very* reputable. Another good place is fredmiranda.com.

I have bought 2 of my lens from a guy at the Flea Market...don't laugh...he has a good reputation and was a photography teacher at a local college...and he introduced me to my favorite lens and gotten me 2 ribbons with it... ;)

I personally don't trust ebay, yet I've never bought from them either....I've bought and sold many items on Fredmiradna.com for many years now.

edit: didn't see kirbic last part of his post.

i second the KEH.com suggestion. they are absolutely fantastic.

i also highly recommend lensrentals.com
they sell their used (rented) stock and my two experiences with them have been FANTASTIC. they describe heir wares in great detail so you know what youre getting and they back it up with a 3 day trial warranty just in case what you get isnt what you saw.
