I have been using this Lexar memory stick reader with my old computer that had Windows ME. I worked flawlessly. Now with my new
Windows XP computer, nothing but problems. Sometimes when removing the memory stick from the reader, the computer shuts off without warning. Sometime is just doesn't recognize it.I downloaded the driver from the Lexar website. I contacted them and did what they suggested. Still no luck. Thought maybe some of you had run into the same problem.

Actually I had problems with that too, but unfortunately I can't help. I bought a card Lexar card reader the same time I bought a new digital camera (my old one wouldn't work with the new computer I bought that had Windows XP). I had the same experience. 1st told it would work as is with XP, then told I had to download a driver. I did everything the online tech told me and it never worked. The first two times I tried it appeared to copy the photos to the computer but they were not located where they should have been and I have no idea where they are on my hard drive. The 3rd time nothing at all happened. Lexar was not much help. I got aggrevated and have been uploading directly from camera to computer since. (probly not the best thing for my camera). I would love to hear from others as well who may have had the same experence.

I just got a Lexar memory stick and had a little problem with it. I also have XP. You might check in the icon tray at the bottom right of your screen for an icon that has a tool tip title of "Safely Remove Hardware". When you click on it it lists the USB hardware that is connected to your computer. Click on the one for the memory stick and I think it then asks if you want to remove that piece of hardware. Click yes or ok and then you can remove the stick from the reader.
I leave my stick in my camera and hook up the camera to a USB hub on my PC. The problem I had was that the Lexar memory stick had an error that also showed up on the LCD screen on my camera. I turned off my camera and pulled stick out then put it back in and it worked fine. Haven't tried it since. Even with the Sony Memory Stick, I have to restart my PC each time I download the pictures off of the stick or I get a blue screen. I think either I need to reinstall XP or there's some kind of compatibility problem.
I don't know if this helps or not.

Your not using that junky software to upload your shots to the computer are you ? Don't you just look for your card in "MY COMPUTER" and then click on it's contents and drag and drop them to a folder on the desk top ? You dont need any software and you can never loose it in the computer this way. I have a folder on my desktop that says "PHOTOS" just for this

I use the Lexar reader for my Canon and my Sony cameras. I do not use the Lexar software like the guys mentioned above. Its not needed for XP. Just plug the card reader in first, then the card. After the green light is lit, open windows explorer, open the Sony file. You then click on- "edit", "select all". The click "edit" and "move to folder" button. Select which folder you want your shots to go to and this will move them and take them off the card. Dont forget when your done to use the remove hardware option down in the right task bar. Im sure there is other ways to do this, but is the easiest and full proof way I have found so far. Ive moved about 2600 photos like this. :)

I agree, I believe in the instruction it says that XP has the drivers pre-installed. I just plugged my reader in and created my own personal folder name for my pictures (pitures directory).
When you plug in the media, it will ask you if you want to use a photo program. I select not, and use the system folder system.
Copy all photo's to my picture directory.
Since, you already downloaded the software, you may or may not have need to remove the lexar software to correct properly. I don't know since I didn't install it. Good luck.
