I was looking through my old picture and found a couple pictures that I might beable to make look better if I did a few touch ups. I read some of the comments and critiques and tried to touch up this photo the best I could from the one that was submitted. What do you think of the new version? What would you do?

Like the new crop...tone range seems improved and colors "pop" more. Be wary of over-sharpening silhouetted images -- it's easy to end up with an undesirable halo. Or...way over-do the sharpening and deliberately create a halo if you want to get arty and stylized. Try getting a print on matte instead of glossy paper.

The new crop is an improvement in my book, but I liked the hint of texture in the grass that has gone to jet black...

I agree with myqyl. In the original you can see the man's legs, but in the new version they disappear into the background. |

Thanks for the comments. I think I will go back and just put more contrast on the man and the baby and see what that looks like.

I like the original crop best... It gives more breathing room for your subject and includes more of the nice sunset...

I loved your original from the time I first saw it, and I still do. I like the black border around the new version, but everything else is better in the first.

I guess I am trying to please everyone. I do like the original one, but would like to have some more contrast. I don't like to see the my husbands socks. Thanks all for your imput.

what about bringing down the contrast and/or brightness just enough to hide a spot edit of the socks .. or better yet, clone them out.
Personally I dont like the totally black silhouite(however you spell that) and I agre with mygyl the grass adds a nice texture to it!
Nevertheless you have a wonderful shot!! |
