My wife has a conference in GR next week and I may take the day off and go with her and spend the day taking pictures. I live in Saginaw and I'm not familiar with GR so does anyone have any good ideas?

here is a listing of some Lighthouses on the shore of Lake Michigan...if you click on the various ones they will show you what the lighthouses look like...a drive along the edge of the lake staying as close as you can is always a pretty drive

this one looks different...not to far from where you will be...I think...

I would imagine that the "old downtown" area of GR has some interesting architecture as well...just a couple of ideas

You could hit up John Ball Park. I like zoos so they're usually first out of my head.

Don't know your flavor of photography but a great stop is Meijers Gardens and art park, Google it for details. Lots of nice glass buildings downtown and on 'medical hill' and of course there's the Calder downtown and the DeVos center is photogenic as well.

Here's a taste from my GR trip a couple weeks ago. Grand Rapids

Those look like some neat ideas. I love old architecture and I'm certainly impressed with the new modern architecture that dsray has. Is old Grand Rapids far from the new modern area?

John Ball Park sounds pretty cool too. I've always enjoyed zoo's also. They're such a great place for candid shots too.

Lighthouses are great. I got some nice shots in Tawas and Harrisville a couple of weeks ago on the Lake Huron side. I will probably check them out on the Lake Michigan side too.

Most of the really old GR is gone but there is still some as you get away from the river. There is a pretty impressive residential historical area on the hill (Keep going away from the river about a mile from downtown, a nice walk).

Thanks for the great ideas.
