I know that loads and loads of DPCers make a decent amount of money from photography, but I have never really ventured down the stock route. Last year I uploaded some photos to Alamy, not really expecting much, but logged in for the first time in ages and discovered i have made my first sale - and a consumer magazine front page!

Details:Country: United Kingdom
Usage: Editorial
Media: Consumer magazine
Print run: up to 250,000
Placement: Front cover
Image Size: 1 page
Start: 09 October 2010
End: 16 October 2010

I am completely stoked, and would love to know what magazine it is going to appear in - if anyone spots it, please send me PM!

Edit - Guess it would be helpful to see a copy of the photo -

congrats on the sale. Exciting. Am I impolite in asking how much you received for the use?

Really excited when I saw it was US$77.39, but then realised that the Alamy commission was till to be deducted. The final statement shows a rather paltry $46.43 - still, better off in my pocket!

That's really good compared to fotolia where I sell, have sold about 75 images and got 77 dollars for the lot...and that is over several years! May be time to rethink! Congratulations-that must be soooo exciting;)

Sara, that's an awfully small price for a front cover for a magazine of that circulation. Just looking through my sales - I had one yesterday for a UK magazine, print run 250,000 1/8 page inside for $57. You might want to check that price with member services :)
