Apparently, this new study shows that people born with the DRD4 gene and who are socially active as children will have liberal ideals as an adult.

I wonder if polling booths will be replaced with biotech labs in the future...

At any rate, I guess this finding spells doom for liberals considering that conservatives are more likely to have kids and less likely to have an abortion.

We have enough political comics on the airwaves now, we don't need you. LOL
You don't think conservatives have abortions???? Well now, I've got some swamp land I'd like to sell you. In any event, one of the sections in the new Obamacare specifies that hospitals must test for this gene before couples are allowed to marry. Just one more of the hidden jewels we'd have never discovered If (You have to pass it to find out what's in it) Pelosi hadn't ram rodded Obamacare down our throats.

As with other dopamine receptor subtypes, the D4 receptor is activated by the neurotransmitter dopamine. It is linked to many neurological and psychiatric conditions including schizophrenia, Parkinsons disease, bipolar disorder, addictive behaviors including sex addiction, and eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating. It has also been linked with novelty seeking and liberalism

I didn't say that conservatives don't have abortions. Studies have shown that conservatives are less likely to have them.

Does this mean that the people who are more likely to have liberal ideals are also more likely to develop those disorders?

Bipolar? As in Dem, Rep, Dem 4 gene?

Old joke.

A discredited doctor had just received a major grant to transplant the heart of a liberal into the body of a conservative. Another doctor correctly pointed out that it would fail, since there was no way to stop the liberal heart from bleeding. They decided to do it the other way around. The disgruntled doctor stated, in frustration, "Sure, and where will I find a conservative donor?"

Explains a lot! Is there a cure?

Well, if the cure is conservatism, I'm guessing a lobotomy... :P

The cure is right there in the article. The "liberal gene" seems to be triggered by having a wide circle of friends growing up. The cure is to ensure that the child has few friends and thinks primarily of themselves as a child. Presumably this self centered and friendless child will grow up to be a conservative.

I suppose you're right. Once someone goes liberal there really is no other way to bring them back to reality...

I think it's probably more an equal mix, but the conservatives are more prone to lie about it. ;D

The DRD4 gene is back again. This time it's being linked to sexual promiscuity. DrAchoo was right (post #10)! So apparently the people who are more likely to be liberals are also more likely to be alcoholics and sleep around. It's weird what science can figure out...

ETA: forgot the link.

Nobody ever did anything great by being conservative.

DrAchoo conveniently failed to mention that the same gene implicated in "bad" neurological disorders is also linked to creativity, inventiveness, leadership and genius.

Yeah, they have to get by on common sense, something that never bothers liberals. :)

Apparently the creativity and inventiveness often gets applied to getting laid... :D

Is there a problem with the Post numbering system? Johnny quoted me in post #10, but I don't see post #10 as being by me at all (I see the post as post #2). Does it matter if you have the posts listed from top to bottom or bottom to top?

Oh... that's weird. I was referring to post #3 but for some reason I saw #10 at the time.

If you have your references set to view Forum threads in reverse order (most recent posting at the top of the first page) the numbering system doesn't work -- the most recent post is considered "#1" -- a bug which makes it pretty useless, and which I would love to have fixed as well.

You can temporarily reverse the order of posts in a thread to get the right number, but then I'd make a note of this requirement when posting the reference.

Personally, I usually just quote any post I'm responding to, editing out irrelevant/repetitive parts ...

...changed my mind. Some things are truly better left unsaid.
