Got one going on this weekend... Any last minute thoughts?

3 girls came to me wanting to do a shoot. Being that they are friends it is going to be free and just for fun and practice. We are going to do a morning sunrise shoot at the railroad tracks. And then places around town for mid-day lighting challenge.

Any suggestions?

Watch out for trains. It would put a damper on things if anyone got killed.

But keep it on burst mode, just in case.

If you are not charging them I would at least have three model release forms for them to sign.

Why is this? If they are just friends of mine?

In case you ever want to use them for stock or advertising or a website. Just a thought. I would rather have it and not need it then want it and not have it.

This is very true... Maybe I will make em sign something... Is there anywhere I can get a rough draft of a formal one? just so I can kinda see what is on it?

STRESSIN OUT AS IT COMES CLOSER!!! Who has some stress reliever they do before they do a shoot? I am not good with people. sooo yea not helping my case. Haha!

As for model releases you can get them at pretty much any of the stock sites... shutterstock, istock etc...

As far as stressing out all I can say is have fun. Just open up and be loose, make the models (friends in this case) comfortable. If you are stressed it will likely pass on to them and then it will be noticeable in the shots. Especially since this is an unpaid favor, you don't really have much to stress over. Just be sure all your gear is ready to go and then just shoot. Get crazy and creative with some of the shots/poses. Take a ton and just enjoy.

In addition to that if a train comes get away preferably behind something because the rocks will fly and sometimes trains have metal pieces hanging out and people have been known for losing limbs if They don't get away far enough

no stress, man. there's no $ involved so there's no pressure. they say you're an expert as long as you know more than anyone else in the room. go hang out with your friends, remember to take the lens cap off, point it in the right direction and push the button. what have you got to lose?

Hey there Marko, don't know if the shoot is a done deal for I just saw this. Morning shoot down at the rails - hmmm, just things to watch for (aside from moving trains and not being in the path) leading lines of the tracks that would be interesting to the people shots, how the shadows of people/objects fall on or onto could also make for an interesting composition. Mayhap bring simple and easy props - suitcase, backpack (think of the leaving/running away home or traveling concepts), flowers that could decorate the rails or model laying a petal trail on the tracks concept, hats, scarves...

But as everyone else has said have fun and stay safe too.
