Please help! I responded to some posts on craigslist for photographer jobs and someone wants to know my per shoot rate. I have no idea what to charge. Its for a new magazine and they have yet to send me the details of the mag but I had sent them this:

I was wondering if you had some more details on the photographer position. What are you looking for? Are you willing to work with someone trying to expand their knowledge and break into professoinal photography?

Please let me know about the magazine as well.

Thank you for your time,

and was asked for a per shoot rate.

Any help is appreciated!

I hope you spelled professional a bit better!!

My feeling is that most pros don't normally quote per-shoot rates, but day rates. And day rates probably vary from $600 - $1200 per day plus expenses. A well knows pro will be much higher.

Some also will quote half-day rates which are a bit more than half their day rate.
