i was trying out desaturation on the original photo that i have
entered for the new challenge and i entered 'save' instead of
'save as' the original is no more, any way i can get it back???

Honey, I'm no computer guru, but I don't think there's much that can be done about that one. Is the image still on a memory stick or in your camera? It might be recovered from there...but I think if you hit save it's all over. Maybe some of the more technologically advanced folks around here know better than I do...I'm so sorry about it and I hope it all works out for you. :o)

if you still have the photo open undo all your adjustments and save it.

The original Exif data will be gone though. You can still recover the original from the media if you don't overwrite it...

When that happens the last thing you should do is close the file! Is it still open are have you died of shock?

If it's open (in Photoshop) it's salvageable. You can either click on the snapshot in the 'History' palette then do Save As. This will restore your image to the orginal form in which it was opened. Your EXIF data may not be DPC-safe though.

If you are one of the 297 entrants that don't get a ribbon you might get away with it.

Actually, it's the top 5.

If you can't recuperate it, have a good wake for it. Break out the Irish whiskey and have fond memories: "It was such a fine file it was..."

thanks, think its gone, will go to the nearest photoshop t'morrow
and see if its still on the card.
