HEADS UP!

Portrait professional is now half-price and will include a free upgrade to v 10 when released later this year. Might be a good time to buy if you have been ummming and arrring about getting this.

Looks like a great deal. Worth noting that this 'standard' version does not support RAW files... But still a good deal.

In my personal opinion, you're not missing out on much by passing up on Portrait "Professional".

I had a look at the 'before and after' gallery, and the changes made were just too extreme for me - in nearly every case the model became someone else, and in some cases I thought were much prettier and certainly more interesting in the before!

It's all a matter of degree. You can slide back on the effects and make them more subtle.

Marion, thanks for that. I'm tempted again now. I noticed in the gallery that all the example photos are of white models - does anyone have any experience of how well does the software works with black faces?

When I had a trial version last year there were black people and Asian people in the gallery - male and female. I don't know why their examples got narrowed down.

Thanks - I'll have to give it a bit of thought over the course of the day...

When I occasionally use it the key is subtlety. With Version 9 they added a texture slider to the skin control which really helped things and made them less `plasticy`.

I have version 8 (and had 7), what I do is use the starting points, then "revert to original", this way the face is mapped out. Then I use only the features I want and can keep it light. In truth, I don't use it all that much except when I do glamour type shots. It served me well for it's original purpose, which was making an unattractive model attractive.

I got mine! :D My question is can we use this for challenges under advanced or expert editing? I guess that's a vague question because the software has lots of features. Or..Under what limitations can we use this software so it will be legal under advanced editing.

I bet it will only be okay in expert editing.

Nah, should be good for advanced. Mostly all it does is skin smoothing and a bit of facial reshaping.

OMG.. howcome I had never heard of this program before.. I had to have it... Check out my comparison... So easy to use.. Yes, this is in my opinion a tad bit overdone.. me likey !!! It makes the post processing soooooooo easy...

Now, anyone know of a program that can fix all that fly away hair with just a few clicks ???? LOL... ahhhhhhh.. I'm going to be looking at this face forever while I'm fixing that..

My daughter is getting married in October (to her partner of 20 years) and, particularly as they live in Queensland, her skin is no longer in the full bloom of youth. I am anticipating putting this program to use on the photos I take.

I got it and am somewhat disappointed that you can not use RAW unless you upgrade again for 69.99

or am i doing something wrong?

Blimey! On one of those gallery shots on the site they took away some poor girl's freckles and changed her eye colour! It was a very 'vogue' shot, it just wasn't of her any more...

Amazing what technology can do... ;op
