Hi,

A quick google search was disappointing. So...

Anyone know of a good website that has a good calendar of events for photo opportunities? I'm mostly interested in landscapes, so things like where are flowers blooming at different times of the year. John Shaw's Nature Photography Field Guide has a good start in the appendix, but I was hoping for something more extensive online.

Other things like balloon festivals, burning-man, etc that would have some unique opportunities would be great too.

Thanks,
Russ

Although not designed for a specific landscape event, this application is extremely useful. The Photographer's Ephemeris is a program the uses google maps but overlays a direct line of where the moonrise, moonset, sunset, and sunrise will be from a given location. You can also go into the details and move the time of day and watch as the line of the sun moves across the horizon. It is very good for planning locations if you want the to catch a full moon over mountains or landmarks. It also tells you on that given day when nautical and civil twilight will occur. Here is part of the tutorial which explains it much better than I am. :P

Not exactly what I was looking for, but still a great link.

Thanks,

Nothing comprehensive, but a couple of things come to mind.

-Web sites for local areas often will have lists of upcoming events. Either the official city visitors site or chamber of commerce may have interest in posting such things.
-Meetup groups on Flickr or Meetup.com may have discussions listing upcoming photo ops for the local areas.

Yea, local is always good. But my intended purpose was something to serve as fruit for photo vacation and road trip ideas.

Thanks,
Russ
