The very first digital camera I purchased was a Panasonic 3.3 mega pixel ipalm PV-DC3000. I purchased it because my son worked at Best Buy, and I got an employee discount and purchased it for about half price. That was four years ago, and a camera like that was selling in the $600 range! Anyway, the camera suffered from many problems...the first camera had to be sent back to the factory, and another sent to me in it's place. That camera developed problems too---one of which was it didn't want to shut down...the camera would stay on for minutes after I turned it off, and then it would finally shut down. It was out of warranty when this started to happen, so I just continued to use it anyway. I got another eight months or so out it, and then it started doing crazy things...until it totally would not function properly. You would turn it on and none of the menu controls worked, and it would thumb through all the photos on the memory card continuously until you turned if off. Soon the camera went completely dead... I sent it away to be fixed for $75.00...but, it was returned to me by the repairman who said it couldn't be fixed...give up on it. I had already had plans to shelve the camera anyway. It has been in a closet in a box for over a year, and the other day I spied the box...opened it up...inserted fresh batteries and the camera powered on and worked perfectly. I have put it through its paces several times now, and it seems to be functioning properly. This camera has a life of it's own!! |
