how does something look extraordinary, is it just a normal shot taken
at a different angle or what?
06/23/2004 02:48:40 PM · #2
Get ready to see lots of beautiful landscapes, "extraordinary" sunsets and the like. We are going to see what people think are extraordinary shots of normal subjects, not good shots of extraordinary subjects. Accordingly, scores are going to far from extraordinary.

I may be sitting this one out unless I come up with something. Anyone have a purple unicorn or something I could borrow?

Not to spoil anyones fun - but you could whats been done in some other competitions. I see people printing stuff out, and then taking photos of those things (see //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=84013)

Perhaps you could get yourself a unicorn of google images (//images.google.com/images?q=unicorn&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi), color it purple, print and take a picture to make it look real?

Good luck.

I had a purple Unicorn, but I desaturated him back to white for the last challenge.

I don't think that even he'd be extrodinary enough for this challenge, though...

Now...to get back on topic :)

I'm not sure what would constitute an extraordinary shot. I'm going to attack it as an astonishingly extrarordinary subject, taken in an extraordinary photo that I think I can shot :)

My 4.x score at the end will tell me diferently, I'm sure :)

My desat pic might be construed as extraordinary as I doubt more than half a dozen dpc'ers have ever seen the subjects (comments confirm this). I wouldn't submit the same subject as peeps would know the fotog. Is it me or are we seeing more 'open' challenges than normal?

Lesley I started scratching my head as soon as I read it.
Still scratching....nothing.
Still nothing except a little bald spot from all the scratching.

Come up with anything good ... pm me ! I'm not proud. I'll accept a little coaching.
Still scratching.

Or even a Basselope.

This is the military version.

It was decommissioned when Reagan and Gorbachev signed those anti-nuclear proliferation papers.

There's gotta be one mothballed somewhere.

Maybe the photograph itself doesn't have to be extraordinary.

Maybe the item you thing you're snapping can be extraordinary in it's own right, without your photo?

Use your imagination :-) But I'm squeamish, so no head-crowning-during-birth photos please :-)

Now, I'm warning everyone up front. I don't think sunsets are extraordinary. They happen every day.

Living where I do, I suspect my entry is going to be more of the "extraordinairly weird" variety.
