I want a lightweight application that will copy image and video files from my phone when I plug in the USB cord. I am not worried about it modifying the EXIF since these will never be use for challenges, although obviously I'd prefer that the app doesn't modify the files.

Any suggestions?

I would suggest a hello before demanding anything, it usually gets you what you want. :)

G'luck!

Eug,

If you're on Windows you maybe you could setup the auto action. If one of the actions is to use Windows Explorer to do the copy then you're good to go.

Hey, Colette It's been a while, eh?

I want it to be automagic. I basically want a backup on my PC of the images that I take on my phone. When I plug in my phone it mounts the SD card on the PC similar to a Flash drive. I want something that will see it and copy the files to my desktop or elsewhere.

Yes, it has been a long time.

A number of application let you set up auto imports. Picasa, LR, iPhoto, Aperture are examples. If you're on a MAC you can set up a watched folder and use the automator to do what you want.

Yeah, those are all heavy-weights, system hogs if you will. It's overkill to have them open all the time for a few images and videos.

Actually, they wouldn't have to be open all the time. They would open automatically when you connect the phone to the computer. They would require some manual intervention though to finish the process.

I agree, they're a bit of overkill.

How about something like this? //www.filecluster.com/Internet/Telephony/Download-BitPim.html

I ended up going with a version of this: Backup USB Drive on Insertion

Amazing what can be done when you go old school.

Note: One commenter says this won't work on Win 7.
