I don't recall us doing one of these, I could be wrong. Here is a description.

BTW, I don't think this is a realistic challenge topic. Entry numbers are already low. I would be shocked to see this get 20 entries. Folks would need more than the typical 7 days to enter, as most will need to make or purchase a pinhole. |

Topaz now has a "Lens Effects" plugin that, among other things, has a pinhole emulation module. But I guess that wouldn't please anyone, right?

Nik Silver has a pinhole preset, obviously it's not the same. I have not seen the topaz version. I'm guessing that like Nik, it's about contrast, grain, and a vignette rather than the soft focus and deep depth of field. |

Enjoyable images, but you have to admit they don't resemble pinhole images. |

Oh, sure, those have nothing to do with pinhole, or pinhole emulation; they're just 3 of the very different looks I have coaxed so far out of the software modules. I haven't even TRIED the pinhole module yet :-)

Would be a fun topic (reminds me I'm behind again with my PAW), but like Ben said, I doubt it would get much participation. |

Simple, take a thin piece of cardboard, us a pin put a hole in it, attach to front of lens. But you're right, this wouldn't be a big draw. |

As I understand it, pinhole photography happens without a lens, limiting the challenge to those with dSLRs and a pinhole "attachment" of some sort.
One possible alternative would be to take a picture which includes a projected pinhole image, essentially taking a picture inside a camera obscura. But I think that's too complex for a one-week challenge ... maybe two weeks to enter would work. |

Now that would be interesting.
The attachment is a bodycap, but you are right, the non-DSLR crowd would be left out if it was a strict pinhole challenge. How about anything but your naked lens? :) Put something over the front element or use a bodycap, etc.
I know these are not pretty, but I like them...
Here is an image made with slits in tin-foil.

I think this would end up inspiring similar ideas as some in the recent homemade filters thread.

I have never experimented with a pinhole, except maybe when I was a kid with an oatmeal box. Maybe someone should think about reviving one of the older threads into an ongoing thing for those that would like to shoot and show.
