Does anyone know of a good site for helping to identify flowers? I know a few of them but am clueless on 90% of them and I hate asking here because I might want to use the shot for a challenge.

Thanks!

Try Botany.com
Sometimes they have a good photo of the plant and really good descriptions.

I'd suggest getting a good field guide for the area you are in. Often better indexed than many websites and more tuned to your local area.

For garden flowers you can try: //www.burpee.com or //www.parkseed.com
For wild flowers, this site has a check list and links to image search in Google: //www.realtimerendering.com/flowers/flowers.html

Or... you could print out the picture(s) and try the reference desk at your local library.

I am costantly looking for the same stuff, Deannda. I send pics to a landscaper acquaitence of mine, but he does not always have the answer so I use:

Flower Web
enature
Thompson Morgan

And a host of others. enature is the best of what I use for a field guide. Enter a Zip code and it gives you the flora and fauna in the area of your choosing.

How about a good book. This is the one I have:

National Audobon Field Guide to Wildflowers

Goes by color and type so easy to find different kinds of flowers.

Thanks everyone! THis is a great help! I would love to get some books but right now money is too tight to spend on anything extra and not really a necessary. I may hit the library for some help too. ;)

I was at Borders books and saw quite a few reference books on flowers, animals, reptile, even photography, etc all in the clearance aisle.

If you happen to be in a book store check out the clearance aisle.
