As many of you may know, I am doing a 3 day walk to raise money to help in the research and cure for breast cancer. 2 years ago I lost my wife to breast cancer, she was only 34 years old. This disease affects thousands of women and their families every year.

I have already reached my pledge goal, and appreciate everyone's donation from here who helped me reach it. Today I am writing to ask those who haven't pledged, or were going to at a later time, to please make your donation to my sister's pledge page: Patty's Pledge Page. Patty is a non-camera member here on DPC and you may have gotten comments from her, as she votes on most all challenges. Her profile page is: .Pidd

She is currently $1300 short of her goal, and she desires so much to make this walk with me. The walk this year is in Chicago, and starts up in Wisconsin near where she lives. She has been training for this day and it would break her heart if she couldn't walk step in step with me for the 3 days.

I'm not asking for huge donations, but if you can spare even $5, that would get her $5 closer to achieving the minimum pledge goal.

Thank you all for your support and God bless!

Only a month and a half, and my sister is still short $1000 in her minimum required pledges. If any of you have ever been touched by this horrible disease and can spare a few dollars towards this cause, please donate to her page for the walk. I'd hate for her to not to be able to walk with me, after she's been training so long for it.

Thanks,
-danny

Danny,

I didn't see that you had bumped this thread up today, but I am very, very grateful since it seems someone cared enough to respond. I am suddenly above the $1000 mark and couldn't be more grateful for the generous donation I just received.

I have been visiting this site for--what? a year now?--and I really enjoy seeing all the wonderful, inspiring photographs each week. Thank you all for sharing so much of yourselves in your art and, now, for sharing your gift towards finding a cure for the terrible disease that stole Debby, and too many like her, away from us.

You're good people.

God bless.
Patty

p.s. Congrats on the ribbon, Danny! I knew it was a winner...I'm glad so many others thought so too. {{hugs}}

I've cross posted this info to another forum I am active on for my business. As a group, we have raised many thousands for donations to 9/11 funds & families that lost everything in the fires in CA. I hope it helps you reach your goal.

Ben, if you want to use PayPal, you could send it to my account, danny.shaw@pegasusphotographic.com and I will then make the donation using my bank card for you to her donation page.

Thanks d00d!

Your donation has been added!

Thank you everyone, she's now at $1200, only $800 more to go... I think she'll get there by August!

my pleasure, Crabalicious. Good luck on the walk...make sure you have a good backpack to haul the D100 and lenses around in; you wouldn't want to throw your back out or anything.
