Post your recommendations. I know I need some but I'd like to hear what you are using.

Not books but pretty much cover everything you could need/want to
know for photoshop processing:

Instant Photoshop to get up to speed quickly and then

Photoshop workflow for everything else. Totally over the top but shows
every step you should go through to get a good final result. Can then
be used as a basis for your own standard approach. Most of this is
applicable to other tools like PSP and the gimp too, though it might require some work with the manual.

Currently enjoying a book called "Photoshop 6 Effects Magic" for two reasons: 1/ it doesn't do any of the basics at all and assumes you
know what is going on, but is full of neat tips and tricks and 2/ I
bought it for about $10 now that Photoshop 7 is out, even though the
info is equally applicable.

Also quite good is "Digital Photographer's Handbook" by Tom Ang. Covers
a lot of information in a resonably cheap book ($28 hardback) Has
sections on post processing and quite good photo ideas.
