I am going to be crewing on a 35' sailboat next weekend and I'm hoping to have enough hands free to take some pictures of the rest of the crew during the race, other boats, etc. I was thinking about renting a lens for the event. I'm wondering what the "perfect" lens would be for shooting pictures of people on board the boat. It will be close quarters, action shots, perhaps some low light, so a fast lens would be good. Probably a zoom lens, right? With a minimum focal length that is quite wide? Like 10mm?
Any other advice for shooting my pictures?

| You know, the kit lens "Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6" that came with that camera might be just right for your purposes. There is an IS version of that lens that comes with the T1i and the T2i that is just a bit better because of the IS. Many 7+ scores captured with the basic kit lens. No need to spend big $$ for some L glass at this time. Just my humble opinion :) |
