Full-Length Studio Shot
Take a full-length photo of a person posed in such a way that they could use it as part of their portfolio presentation to a modeling agency.

So does this mean it has to be shot indoors as well? I use my strobes outside, the world is my studio. Am I gonna get DNMC'ed because I shoot an outside shot?

You won't get disqualified.

But if you don't meet exactly what the voters want / expect, then yes, your score will reflect that.

It's up to you if score is important, or if you're going to shoot for YOU with your take on the challenge.

And since the challenge title says "studio", then the sticklers will expect just that - indoor, studio shot.
Others will broaden their expectations, and look for a good, posed, full-length shot that looks intentionally set-up and lit.
Others are going to submit a snapshot of a full person.

Most will go somewhere in the middle.

Can full length be sitting or laying down, sill with head to feet in shot?

I say yes without hesitation.

Seeing as how I have no way of creating such a thing, I won't be entering this one. No studio lighting, although you could do it with natural, but I know those voters. :)

It's never to late to over analyze the challenge description.

Funny that this should come up now... I need to put together a model's portfolio. Anybody want to give me a quick rundown on the basics?

I know it needs a head shot... but what other poses?

Smile? Unsmile?

Anything artsy?

What medium does it need to be delivered in? Print? Or CD?

Lydia,

Headshot and full body shots
Smile unless her smile is ugly lol
Prints, I usually suggest 8x12

now, if this is a TFP or CD , its better off to just give them the CD since it would cost you more to do the prints. But you are at the mercy of the model to print them within the agreement.

Always make sure you have a model realease that states all that very clearly.

If the photo doesn't clearly show their face would the model still use it in a portfolio to a modeling agency?

As part of a portfolio of images to a modeling agency a model might have a shot in their port that only shows a partial view of their face but others that show their face clearly. I don't know if I would be game enough to do that for this challenge though as IMO the voters will be looking for a full body shot that includes a clear view of the models face.

I do headshot, 3/4 and full-length.
Both smile and not smiling, a lot depends on what the agency is looking for. For fashion they don't want smiles, for lifestyle they do.
I always deliver digital images for free and charge for prints

BTW I am not normally cocky, but I'm calling it for this one (we'll call it confidence instead).

I will ribbon on this challenge.

Auuuuugh! Last Tuesday, the day before the challenge was announced, I did a studio shoot of a beautiful girl needing them for a theatre part she was auditioning for! Sigh.

so are we of the consensus an outdoor shot would get killed?

I know "Studio" is in the name, but the description says nothing about it having to be indoors. I have seen photos where temp studios were setup outside, so I would definitely not hold it against the photo. Of course, I cannot speak for everyone.

I know what you mean, after shooting the best landscapes ever a day before the BW Landscape was announced.

I lucked out: had a studio shoot on the 16th, without even knowing about the challenge. Noticed the challenge yesterday. Edited tonight. I'm in!
