Hey DPers,

I made my first online portfolio site, looking for some critique - about the images, website, overall - whatever you want to tear me apart on be welcome.

website: //www.philosophyoflight.com/

Thanks!

Love the top part. I am not a fan of all the pictures being put on the front like that. I would either link to the collections and place them neatly on the page, or do thumbnails.

Good start!!

Looking good, the lightbox image viewer is nice, I think I have the same one on my site for my video gallery.

I would consider centering the page in the browser and I would definitely use same-size thumbs e.g. square in an orderly grid.
Another consideration would be to use a fixed width for the page to keep the thumbs from rearranging themselves based on the browser width, if the header image was centered it could work either way.
You might also play around with different background shades, if you make a fixed width you could have something different for the page and content.
Seeing what you did with the graphics in the head you could probably make a cool page background image with swirls or what have you in subdued tones so as not to be distracting but still be cool.

Just some ideas.

I want to thumbnails to be in one long strip horizontally - because i also dont like how the images change depending on the size of the browser. Does anyone know a quick solution like that?

Like the banner, dont like the uneven alignment of the pictures and the blue border around them.

With html a quick and dirty solution would be to specify a page width like 2000px etc. but this is going to give you a horizontal browser scroll bar... I don't much care for that idea.
I used simpleviewer a flash browser. You can have a strip underneath the large image. you can decide how many to show in the strip at one time. Not sure if that is waht you are looking for: //www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/
