Got a 10 from someone, which was then immediately neutralized by a 2. I expect this is how the voting will go all week. I had a brief look over the entries following rollover. I expect my own average cast is going to be very high on this one. I saw a lot I liked.

The last 5 scores I received have knocked a lot off my score. Now:

Wellll... I had a choice between a nice slick DPC photo that in my mind was not "fine art" but probably would have given me a 6+ score or the one I actually submitted. So I shouldn't be upset about this:

But it's hard not to be. Even if it's an image that I really like - and that's what counts, right? Right?

I've been hit by a barage of very low votes following the high votes early on.

I'd like anything but 5's please. Hoping to cross a goal off my list with this one.

Right. Besides, we judges may be loving it, you have no way to know, nor do we for that matter. All I know for sure is that all of we judges whose scores I'm aware of are getting hammered, so what WE like is definitely not what "they" like, which means that it's at least conceivable that the worse "they" are treating you, the better you are looking to us :-)

As if that makes sense?

That's . . . reassuring. Kind of. Maybe. I think.

Joining the rest of you in the steady drop. I had thought those early high votes were a fluke.

you, me, both! I thought I had a half decent entry and the first few votes sorta gave me hope (it was over 6)...and since then it has steadily nosedived.

My expectation is that the sort of images that normally win the popular vote will also nail it in this one. Popular appeal is popular appeal, regardless of what you call the challenge.

I would say that it has not an ounce of popular appeal, so all things considered perhaps this is a bit aof a result!

So, theoretically,

if a picture by one of the judges wins this challenge, does that disqualify the judge (for poor judgment)?

Or, if a picture that the judges pick as top 5 also places very high in the challenge, are the voting masses then a failure for picking a picture that is not just popular appeal?

Or, does art photography have to be something that isn't liked by "the masses"?

[No deep questions, just playing around]

Agreed. It was nice too see this challenge though. A lot of excellent entries, I gave out more 8's, 9's and 10's in this challenge then any that I have voted on to date.

Couldn't agree more... I should've posted something that was more of an eye candy...a small number of juries do not make the entire voting populace!
