Hey, anybody in the southern plains want to get together and take pictures. I was thinking we could go go the wildlife refuge in Erik, Oklahoma, or Mount Scott in Lawton, Oklahoma, or really anwhere anybody wants to go. This region has a lot of diversity, and I'm sure we could find someplace wonderful to go. I've never been to Quartz Mountain. Any other suggestions? I don't know how many of you are from this area, but I know that "laurielblack" Is from Texas, and she would have some fun on an outing. I was thinking sometime in june, preferably on a weekend. Anyone have any ideas?

So long as the weather is good, I'd love to go...I missed the Fossil Rim trip due to rain. :o( We have family vacation plans from the 28th through July 4th weekend, but it sounds lke a great idea. Another beautiful place in Oklahoma is the Beaver's Bend area...plenty of opportunities there. Keep me posted!

Well, this weekend is too short of notice for babsitting and what-have-you; next weekend is hubby's birthday; and the weekend of the 4th we're leaving for a week in Galveston and Houston. So maybe sometime in July? Don't hold things up on my account...I just have SUCH a busy social calendar! ;o) LOL

edit: trying to figure out that forum code in the signature is a pain!!!

Mid July sounds doable... hotter than heck out there though. You have a link for this Beaver's Bend place? I'd like to see what's available to shoot and do out there.

These are pretty shoddy pictures, taken in April of 02 with a much smaller 1mp digicam, but they might give you an idea of some of the scenery.

edit: pictures accidentally removed when cleaning out portfolio...sorry!

Okay, then. Who is interested in the weekend of July 16th at Beaver's Bend? I hear it is absolutely beautiful. I would probably be spending all weekend there camping and such, but we could say that our get together could be on Saturday the 17th of July. Who is in? Any other ideas or suggestions?

Let me check with my son's baseball coach...their team is in the playoffs (10-0-1 for the season!) and the All-Star tournament is coming up soon but we don't know when. Usually the tournaments are finished by the weekend of the 4th but we were two weeks behind due to constant rain for 10 days...I hope hope hope that weekend is free!!!! Count me as a tentative yes but we should know soon about the schedule. :o)

Hey! I might be interested in joining you guys. I'm from Altus, which is close to Quartz Mountain State Park and I frequently go to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Center. Both offer awesome scenery. If I can't attend this trip, I would be interested in future get togethers. I'm fairly new to photography and it'd be great to learn from others!

Cool. I have been wanting to get to quartz mountain for a while. I have seen your profile a few times. I like your stuff. I would love the opportunity to hang out and learn more together.

OK...so how about Saturday, July 17? I was able to get a hotel reservation in Broken Bow, but all the cabins are taken right near the lake (they book a year in advance). There's plenty of first-come, first-served camping sites, however! :o) Anyone interested in going?

(not only OK, TX, KS...anyone else can come too!!!) ;o)

Just a little bump. Looks like we are getting together at Beaver's Bend on the 17th of July. Anyone interested is more than welcome to come and take some pictures with us. It should be a great time. It is always fun to learn from others and see thier shooting style. I am REALLY looking foreward to this. I'm sure we will have a great time. So, sign up, and join the fun.

I second that! I'll be able to create an itinerary of sorts once I know who's coming...that way we will have, more or less, a plan of action based on numbers. This will be so much fun! Let's all pray for some dry weather, however...this has certainly been the wettest summer I can ever remember! :o)

bump again...just in case anyone else might be interested.
