In my current queue, I have a image from someone who out of 349 comments has felt only 2 where helpful, once in 07, once again in 08. On the image I am asked to critique he has 30 comments with no indication that he has even read one. Yes he has command of English, in fact writes very American.
I have a problem wasting my time in this case. Suggestions Please..

You could either do the critique as a learning experience for yourself and those that may view the picture afterwards, and not worry about what the photog thinks,

OR

You could contact Manic and ask him if he can "release" the picture so you could get another.

I'd say ignore it. Leave it in the queue.
EDIT: oops, didn't realize that might prevent you from moving forward.

Do it. Take one for the team.

We're not in this for the glory.

And don't let the fact that I've only done one critique in 2 years keep you from listening to me, for I am wise beyond my deeds...

I couldn't help but laugh at the part in that review where you told the photographer that his rocks were soft. ;)

Well, you guys probably should not be critiquing photos of non-paying members. Just my opinion. I understand where you are coming from. This one doesn't seem very appreciative.

There's only one way of finding out if your comment will be helpful to him :)

And in fact, the photog did request it.
Maybe he still doesn't know what the checkmark is for?... :-P

sarampo has a good point.
Actually, what I do with a high-scoring image is just reinforce the opinion of the rest of DPC.

Goes something like this:
"You have received a fine score and many comments for your high-scoring image. there is little more I can add. So, with my congratulations for an image that is very well done I will go on to the next image in the queue."

If the person has been around for a while, I'll usually add

"and why don't you join the Critique Club. Your expertise would be welcome."

Whether the image being critiqued belongs to a person who checked the "helpful" box is immaterial for me, although if the person is new, I'll probably hint that it would be nice to know if a Critique comment is helpful.
