Is it just me, or has the membership (and registered usership) gotten more picky over the course of DPC's existence. Yeah I know, let me have it, I don't even know whether this is good or bad. I was just noting that the highest rated photo ever on this site was from the second challenge, which had a total of 20 submissions. Any thoughts or opinions?

Cheers!

I think that's to be expected. This is an educational site, and as the members become more experienced, they will naturally become more discrimminating. Many of the concepts that scored well in the past have now been repeated ad nauseum, so it becomes harder and harder to offer something new to the jurors. Raising the bar means a tougher entry point for newbies, but it keeps the members interested, adds credibility to the site, and results in some great imagery (and mumbles of disappointment on dud Challenges like Habits).

With that in mind, I just about fainted when my Threes shot had an average score of 8.000 after 10 votes. Wish I could have stopped the voting there! ;-)

Also keep in mind that as the total number of submissions goes up, the scores on average will come down simply because more people are voting.
