I am a huge Colts fan. Lived in Indy for about 5 yrs. Gotta admit I didn't want to come up against the Saints. Their Offense has the ability to compete with Indy and that makes it scary but even without Freeney I think our defense holds the edge. I gotta give special teams to the Saints though. I think if it really turns into a shootout that Indy has the edge in a close game having been through so many this year. Just that little mental edge can make all the difference. I'll enjoy the game no matter the outcome but gonna have to pick the Colts 34 Saints 27. It should be a great game.

Saints had a few close ones and pulled them out also. Without Freeny at full blast Saints win by 10. Too many targets for Brees to hit. Don't forget....we also have three runners to ram the ball.

I'm rather indifferent to the outcome. I've liked Reggie in his earlier days at USC and was pulling for the Saints to keep their perfect record. But you can't really say this- honestly. They didn't stop Favre, they got lots of turnovers, and TBH, got a few lucky calls at the end. It's the nature of the game, and they won it and I'm not trying to diminish it, but people are still saying how awesome their D is against the pass and how good their offense is. Neither showed up for the Vikings game, so why should we assume it will tomorrow?

You saw how we ran the ball against the Jets and the Saints run defense isn't as good so don't be so sure Indy won't put some numbers up on the ground when necessary.

To set the record straight...I know nothing about football. I know nothing about the teams playing tomorrow, I know not one thing about any player. But here is my opinion. It comes down to emotion. The Saints have NEVER been to a Stupid Super Bowl. The emotion going into the game within the team and especially from the fans once they (the team) hit the field is going to be intense. If the Dolts Colts don't match/overcome that at the onset, the tide and momentum will be very strong...against them. Someone has to open strong and keep the tide in their favor. Someone else has to answer strong and turn the tide in their favor. Emotionally, going in, the Saints have the advantage. In my opinion, that is a big advantage. Can they hold onto it? You football followers can answer that better than me.

Personally, I will tune it in sporadically to catch the score so I can at least be able to reasonably pretend I can participate in the endless conversations that will take place at the various work places over the next week or so. Because I am always for the underdog and I like it when achievements happen, I think the bigger and more lasting achievement will be that the Saints win it and that is what I would like to see. In reality though, I will read the score on the first news page I visit Monday morning.

Whoever wins it, what ever the score, I hope all that watch and enjoy do so safely. I know the local spirit shop has sold more liquor, wine and beer just for this weekend than they have for the last two months total (an inventory thing I do on the side). So enjoy the game. Party till the clock runs out. But let someone else drive home if you are not already there.

If your opinion on emotion is right...the Saints will win by 10+. Not only on Emotion but because they have a kick ass team. It seems the freaking sports world simply forgot about this number one offense and a defense that plays the ball like FREAKS.....

In about 25 hours we'll know..........

...............WHO DAT....................

There isn't really an underdog of these two teams. The Colts are a perennial powerhouse and the Saints bandwagon has been riding all season long. Calling the Saints the underdog is kinda ridiculous. I mean, I guess we can argue the underdog from the betting perspective (Colts favored) but the spread isn't that bad and doesn't mean a whole lot when there are two hyper-offensives teams.

Does it come down to bourbon or milkshakes?
Bourbon has more mojo.

Not to mention the fact that the "spread" has nothing to do with the relative strength, perceived or imagined, of the two teams; it's a mathematical construct massaged by the bookies to keep the amount of money bet on both sides relatively equal, so the betting houses are guaranteed winners, nothing more.

This one's a tough game to call. When "my team" isn't playing, my heart's always with the underdog, and in all of professional football there's no greater underdog than the Saints/Aints/WhoDats, so that's who I'm rooting for.

Go Saints!

I'm an honorary citizen all the way back to Archie Manning days; I loved that guy, and that sad team :-) And New Orleans, to my mind, is in many ways the most interesting city in America, along with NYC and San Francisco.

I'm surprised that no one's yet mentioned the irony of the Saints' biggest obstacle to a championship being Archie's son ...

It's been mentioned here. I'm sick of hearing it here and sick of hearing Peyton's name on ESPN. It's like he's the only player in the game. It's starting to make me sick.

ESPN just made their picks. To my surprise, most picked the Saints. One who picked the Colts said the trophy should be renamed the Peyton Manning trophy. Idiot.

BTW - this will be like a home game for the Saints. Not as loud - but the vast majority of the fans are for the Saints.

I have never seen a game of football before. Can someone please fill me inn on which player to look out for and such? Would make the game much more interesting than see a bunch of guys running into each other. I have read the rules and understands the concept, but still clueless on the players (except... Manning... sorry... I know this is a saints thread...) Norway is actually broadcasting the game tonight!

ETA: And why "WHO DAT"? Is "Go Saints" to boring?

Who Dat is a chant we've been singing in New Orleans for about 50 or so years. You'll hear..."who dat say dey gonna beat them Saints". It means "Who is saying that they are going to beat the Saints" We talk funny down here in New Orleans so ....."Who Dat". It started as a high school chant for St. Augustine High School and migrated to the pro team.

As for as who to watch...

#9 is the QB for the Saints (Manning plays QB for the Colts). #9 Brees is really good. He has many to throw to:

12 Marques Colston
19 Devery Henderson
17 Robert Mechem
88 Shockey
25 Reggie Bush - Bush also runs back punts and can score on them.

Runners - Reggie Bush, 21 Mike Bell, 23 Pierre Thomas - Many say that the Colts and Saints passing game will be a "wash" meaning they will cancel each other out. Saints have the better running game. This is important because if your team is running the ball well, this opens up your passing game. It makes the other team have to "come up" to guard against the run...when that happens, the field opens up for a big pass.

Saints defense is rough. They hit hard and they cause "turnovers" (steal the ball).

I won't go in to the Colts players but they have many good ones. One, Dwight Freeny on defense has a badly hurt ankle. He will not be close to being 100%. He is their #1 pass rusher. Without him, many think #9 for the Saints will have more time and more targets because he won't have to keep a "runner" or "tightend(receiver)" in to block.
